Are the people on Smirk real?
No. Every match is a fictional AI character with an AI-generated photo. None of them are real people.
How do I cancel Smirk+?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Smirk, then tap Cancel. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel it.
I bought something and don't see it
In the app, open the subscription screen and tap Restore. If it still isn't there, email us with the date of purchase.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are made through the App Store, so refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. This deletes your profile, conversations and photos. See our Privacy Policy for details.
A character said something wrong or upsetting
Press and hold the message and choose Report, or report the character from their profile (the … button) and choose not to see them again. You can also email us. People review every report.
Why did a character stop replying?
Sometimes they step away for a shift, the gym or bed, and the chat says when they'll be back. Messages you send meanwhile get answered when they return. You can bring them back right away for 1 Spark, or free with Smirk+.
What are Sparks?
Sparks are Smirk's one currency. You start with 3. A Spark gets you an instant match with someone you liked, a Connect from This Week, a selfie, or a character back early. Check in 5 days in a row for a free one. You can buy more in the app; they're one-time purchases.
How many messages can I send?
For free, 20 of your messages in a chat, then they step away for 8 hours (bring them back sooner for 1 Spark). Smirk+ chats last three times as long, 60 messages, and bringing someone back is free.
Do characters see my photos?
Characters never see your profile photos, only a short description of them. A photo you send in a chat is shown to the character once, so they can react to it. Every photo is checked automatically first.
